Week 80

The sight in the rear view mirror offered a tiny peek of a magnificent scene that unfurled mile after mile along Hwy 101. You can hear the triumphant roar of the waves though the rushing wind and closed car windows.

I loved painting this one. It’s a place I’d love to return to, and in painting I feel like I get to go there again. My eyes and brush caress the hot, wet rocks. I wonder with curious fascination as I flick the winding road around the cascading mountain. I feel the salty cool mist of ocean spray as I work it to clash unashamedly on the shore.

The majesty and serenity of this scene has made its mark and here, I certainly will return over and over.
