Week 42

As we begin the drawing for this piece, I think of her. I feel her, about to carry the responsibility of delighting. About to dance in the abilities she was given and worked hard to hone.  The heavy and light feeling of anticipation, of something wonderful, exciting and meaningful about to be experienced.  It's the quiet of the early morning before the sun rises. There we join our creator in creating, in giving life to ourselves and others. To withhold is to refuse the coming daylight for all.

I started by working on the girl while Laert whipped the background into shape. Within moments, he had finished the background (using mostly veletour) by the time I looked up from capturing the light in only her tutu. I hate being waited on, primarily because I am terrified of being left behind. When the first thought like that happens up on my mind, it can go one of two ways. I choose to reject it and move on or I give into the thoughts, they grow and the shadow in the corner leans in. Creating becomes much harder when fear is there. He waits with his greedy grin, softly whispers until you are tied completely. Here is the war of art we fight.

Our ballerina is about to burst into the light, into the dawn, into beauty. Even the dust sparkles in the light like an exclamation.
