Week 140

Hot, bright color illuminated the evening. It was a sudden brilliant burst across the horizon as we rounded the corner. The winter dried grasses bowed their heads and clacked their seedless pods in greeting. The moment stays still when you allow it. You make your first painting in your mind, immortalizing that scene and feeling in your mind. When you begin to paint it, you may have a photo reference, but accessing that part of your mind that allows you to time travel back to that moment and feel the air, rich and velvety on your skin and the shock of a moment of splendor, serves you well in creating a delightfully transportive piece. Each stroke tells of the wind in the grasses, each bright daub catches your breath with wonder in vibrancy.
