Week 102

There are so many techniques. One can get swept up in a sea of uncertainty trying to decipher “the best way”. Many masters will tell you it is their own. Or museums and art critics will tout the methods of those we in time have called great. Recently, I read some of the things critics said about Renior’s works at Salon…."the putrefying, decomposing corpses” of the colorful blues, lavenders and greens in his flesh tones. They are comical to me, but in the time invariably must have stung.

Periodically, the critics of my own mind come calling. Here in this sacred place, there is a space for creating something new. It could be criticized for that fact. But doubt could rob this world of something new and great. We all have a light to shine. Something deep within we must do because our bodies were made to do it. Looking to what another light has created should always be inspiring not distracting or defeating.

This piece I loved from the beginning. We cropped the original image heavily, and in this microsphere, we catch the sun and water coalescing over a rich palette of strong,  but delicate vegetation. The colors Laert made more intense in our interpretation, startled and delighted me. I’m not sure if it is possible to feel completely restful inside something at the same time as utterly captivated and impassioned, but it is the feeling that overwhelms when looking on these confident and optimistic lilies.
