Week 91

This was the moment I knew she’d be ok. The morning had unfolded in a series of horrifying moments. Finding my daughter lifeless, facedown in soiling, underneath the bed. Trying to help her to the shower where her body was completely limp and her eyes rolling sickeningly back into her head.

It started with a jump house. And cousins. And an entire day of fun. She had gotten severely dehydrated. My daughter only knows one speed, fast and hard. She is all in, ferocious for fun. Her strong, agile body allows her to do more than most her age. To hold her languid, semi-conscious form was shocking and deeply disturbing. After several hours of intense rehydration, she laid on the couch, covered in her doctor’s, my sister’s, gorgeous scarf. The colors in the scarf were reflected in her face, no longer sallow. Life was back. Although her eyes were closed, peace surged though her face. Then I knew, as my heart wrapped around her like silk, all was well.
