Week 34

You know when you are ready to go, and the one you're with decides there is a not-so-important "IMPORTANT" project they must do before hand? It leaves you watching your watch and slowly fading?

This happened after deciding to look through a ton of new inspiration only to choose the one we had picked out for tonight long ago.

Starting was difficult in the wake of this, coupled with the heavy, drippy weight in my sinus cavity, the itchy flu in my eyes, and the devastating lack of slumber.

Personally, I like to begin with some background area to spend a little time with the image before I dive into the more challenging parts. Alex is the opposite. And this painting- is huge. Building into the painting I feel my speed and confidence increase - then as it passes 12:30am I start to make mistakes. The more attached one of us is to the subject, the more rude they can be. I'm finding the strength to make my claim, instead of mentally check out in my hurt. I am willing my body and mind forward.

I love this painting. The mystery and the fresh cool air I imagine feeling. The exploration and self discovery. The flecks of mist and sea on the lighthouse window. The decay from the salt on the paint. The brilliant light's touch on each surface.
